How to Install Your Video Conferencing Equipments
To The High Speed Internet Access

What is High-speed Internet Access?

High-speed Internet Access, often called as “Broadband” is basically so,
because of its high speed data transmission capability.

Any connection from the
ISP to the consumer at 256 kilobit/sec. (0.256
Megabit/sec) or faster is considered a high-speed Internet or Broadband
Internet.

The Internet service providers commonly categorize their services according to
speed or rate of transmission. Let’s see for example,
Verizon High Speed
Internet which I am currently using. Their service plan is divided into 3
categories according to speed of transmission, 1 or 2 year agreement and
pricing: Starter Plan (1Mbps), Power plan (3Mbps) and Turbo plan (7.1Mbps).

What Service plan is suited for your Interactive point to point
online gigging needs?

If you are using Polycom PVX V8.0 PC Software Application for your daily
musical Rock Band rehearsals and for your family’s special occasions, Verizon
Power Plan easily meets the requirements.

For your Rock Band’s live performances, Verizon’s Turbo plan is advised for
much better results.

What is the Internet?

The Internet is an enormous network of interconnected computer systems
linked to each other by copper wires, fiber-optic cables, wireless connections
(Broadband) that allow transfer of data to computers all over the world through
the Internet Service Providers (ISPs) using the standard Internet protocol suite
– Transmission Control Protocols/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).

It is not owned nor controlled by any single person, any entity, company or a
corporation.

    The “Web”

The “Web” or “World Wide Web (WWW)”, is a
system of interlinked documents such as web site
pages accessed from the Internet through web
    servers.

These hyperlinked web pages containing text,
images, video and other multimedia can be
viewed using a Web browser that allow transfer
of information from the Internet to end-users’
    computer.

    Web browsers

Web browsers exchange information with Web
servers using Hypertext Transfer Protocol (http://your
domain name.com, net, org, etc.) and (https:// secure
server/@your Domain/for encrypted pages (SSL or
TLS) in order to view transferred HTML web pages.

Examples of Web browser are Microsoft Internet
Explorer, Moxilla Firefox, Google Chrome, AOL
    Explorer, to name a few.

Video conferencing, web conferencing, webinars, online video chat, electronic
mail (eMail), file transfer, data sharing, online gaming and the World Wide Web
(WWW) resources such as the interlinked hypertext documents (http) are
made possible through the Internet.

Internet Service Providers

Internet Service Providers (ISPs) or Internet Access Provider (IAP) use several
technologies to enable consumers to connect to their service network:

  • Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) and the typical Asymmetrical Digital
    Subscriber Line (ADSL).
  • Wireless Broadband – line of sight wireless transmission
  • Fiber Optics - fiber optic cables to the premises (FTTH)
  • WiFi – wireless Satellite transmission
  • Dial-up – telephone line transmission
  • Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) (typically basic rate
    interface).
